The ASUCD Moo-vin' Moo-seum Grand Opening
Learn about the Sunset Fest and Davis Farmers Market Grand Opening!
Quick Summary
- On October 4th and 5th, the ASUCD Moo-vin Moo-seum had its official grand opening and made appearances at both Sunset Fest and the Davis Farmers Market where community members were able to contribute to a community mural.
Udder-ly Amazing Launch Events
The community was invited to be part of the Associated Students of UC Davis (ASUCD) Moo-vin' Moo-seum's inaugural exhibition at Sunset Fest (a concert for UCD students) and the Davis Farmers Market.
At these events, over 400 community members had the unique opportunity to contribute to the Moo-seum's first interior art installation, by making their mark on repurposed ad cards that were then installed on the Moo-seum. The theme? "What does Davis mean to you?".

More Than Just a Pretty Face
The Moo-vin Moo-seum embodies four core principles:
- Building Community: By bringing art to unexpected places, we hope to spark conversations and connections among students and Davis residents.
- Embracing Sustainability: The Moo-seum is committed to environmental, economic, and social sustainability. From using repurposed ad cards for artwork to exploring eco-friendly event practices, we're constantly seeking new ways to operate sustainably. As we grow, we're dedicated to continually improving and expanding our sustainable operations.
- Supporting Local Artists: This rolling gallery provides a unique platform for local talent to showcase their work to a wide audience.
- Promoting ASUCD: Many students are unaware of ASUCD and the vital role it plays in campus life. The Moo-seum serves as a vibrant, mobile billboard for ASUCD, helping to increase awareness of the student government's initiatives and the many ways it enhances the UC Davis experience.
A Long-Term Vision
While we're excited about the outcome of our launch events, the Moo-vin' Moo-seum is no temporary attraction. This project is designed for the long haul, with plans for regular art rotations, themed exhibitions, and collaborative community events. We envision the Moo-seum becoming a beloved Davis institution, continuously evolving to reflect and inspire our vibrant community.
"The Moo-vin Moo-seum hopes to embody the creative spirit and community-focused values that seem so key to Davis and that I have had the privilege to experience so far." says Jonah Messinger, Project Director. "We're not just launching a bus – we're continuing a moo-vement that celebrates art, sustainability, and local talent. We can't wait to see how this project grows and transforms over the years."
